What is your vision?

Share your view of what our Lakeside Park restroom/changing room might look like as we wait to hear whether we receive our Knowles Nelson grant. Find a “restroom/changing room” image you think would work well in our park. Take a picture or capture the link of the web page where you found the image.  Email  it to  [email protected].

At our August 1 Parks meeting, people will have the opportunity to tell us why they like what they submitted. Talk about it, or let your image speak for itself.  Your choice to share your thoughts.

Thanks, from the Jacksonport Parks Committee.

Knowles Nelson Grant Details – A Message from your Parks Committee

The grant was finished and filed on time.  Now we have to wait until September to hear the outcome.

We reduced the size of the grant request from what we presented at the Annual Meeting to meet the donations, grants, pledges received by the Knowles Nelson due date. Park elements discussed at the Town annual meeting included in our grant are, with parentheses behind them detailing estimated cost, Restrooms/changing rooms (120,000), Sanitation system  (100,000), Entrance/Parking improvements on Lake Park Drive, which includes the path along that side of the park to the corner (70,000), Entrance/Parking Improvements on highway 57 (35,000), 10′ Path providing connectivity and maintenance access (22,500), Plantings (5,000) and Design Cost (35,250). The estimated cost for this part of the project is $387,750.

The “Town” portion is half, made up of grants, donations, pledges and the $50,000 commitment by the Town voted on at the Annual Meeting.

The Parks Committee is currently working on additional grants and making recommendations to the Town about moving forward with items that are not included in the grant. Thank you for your comments and positive feedback. We will need your continued help to improve our beautiful Lakeside Park.

From the Parks Committee

We are humbled and appreciate the outpouring of community support for the Lakeside Park Development Project. Our grant writer mentioned we have the most support letters he has ever heard of for a Knowles Nelson grant.

As Jacksonport Parks Committee members, that is a source of pride in our Town. We are fortunate to have a community interested in working together to keep Jacksonport on the map, and beyond that, to increase opportunities for fun and joyful experiences in our Town core.

Many thanks to all of you. We plan to continue to work hard to make Lakeside Park more beautiful and appealing for all of us and our guests. We are excited and will need your continued help to make that happen.

Sincerely,
Tom Wilson, Lee St. John, Mike Killenberg, Katie Hebal, Dawn Craig

P.S. It’s never too late to donate. If you wish to send a check to Elissa with a memo donating it to the Lakeside Park Development project, please do.
