The committee is planning a spring cleanup. Tasks already on the list include these:

Straighten and stabilize existing boardwalk

Remove metal poles and string around protected beach grass

Install small signs or other obstructions to foot traffic on beach grass

Minor trimming near the lakefront – no bush or tree removal

A public hearing will be held by the Door County Resource Planning Committee on Thursday, May 18, 2017 in the Chambers Room of the Door County Government Center at 421 Nebraska Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. The hearing will begin at 2:00 PM to give consideration to the following matter:

Cherie Lauritzen; rezone a vacant 21.2 acre parcel from Estate (ES) to Mixed use Commercial (MC) for the purpose of establishing campground and retail store on the property; parcel is located west of STH 57 and north of Bagnall Road.

PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT MEETING                 ;’

Project ID 4431-00-00 County A

County V to County E

Towns of Jacksonport and Baileys Harbor Door County

A public involvement meeting will be held by the Door County Highway Department for the roadway resurfacing project along County A. The project will begin at County V and continue north approximately 5 miles to County E.

Discussion will focus on the roadway improvements, and anticipated traffic control of the proposed project.

The meeting will be held at the Jacksonport Town Hall, located at 3365 County V, Sturgeon Bay on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 5:00 pm. A short presentation of the County A resurfacing project will be provided by representatives of the consulting firm of Ayres Associates at 5:15 pm. Informal discussions will follow the presentation to discuss individual concerns regarding the project. All interested persons are invited to attend.

Committee Membership Opportunities

Notice is hereby given that two committee member’s terms of office on the Parks Committee and one on the Plan Commission are up for renewal effective June 1st of 2017. Jacksonport residents who would like to be considered for one of these committee positions should submit a one page letter of interest stating why you would like to serve and a second page stating your qualifications, curriculum vitae, or experience relative to this position to Town Chairman, Randy Halstead at Town of Jacksonport, 3365 City Road V, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. Your application shall be in the office of the Town Clerk no later than Monday, May 22, 2017.

Per the Committee Bylaws and Rules, the Parks Committee shall provide oversight of activities occurring in the Town parks, and operate, maintain and improve the Town park system; coordinate the usage of Town parks and facilities for all festivals and ongoing regular usage; prepare an annual report on the activities and operations of the parks along with recommendations for future improvements; and prepare an annual budget for submission to the Town Board.

The Plan Commission shall evaluate economic development and related activities in the Town; identify strengths and weaknesses in the current economy; recommend projects and public improvements in the Town that improve the local economy; work to create jobs and development in the Town; work to create public improvements consistent with the approved land use plan and economic development marketing plan; make recommendations to the Town Board on issues requiring Town Board approval.

NOTICE OF OPEN BOOK FOR THE TOWN OF JACKSONPORT IS HEREBY GIVEN that the assessment rolls will be open for examination by taxpayers in the Jacksonport Town Hall on Saturday, May 6^th, 2017 from 9 AM to at least 11 AM.
