Jacksonport Takes Action to Control Invasive Phragmites – Your Help is Needed!
The Town of Jacksonport is actively working to control the spread of invasive Phragmites, a fast-growing plant that threatens our native habitats, shorelines, and waterways. These tall, dense reeds can quickly take over, crowding out native plants and disrupting the local ecosystem.
See Phragmites? Help Us by Reporting It!
Residents and visitors can play an important role in our efforts. If you see Phragmites in Jacksonport—whether on land or in the water—please report it using the GLEDN app (Great Lakes Early Detection Network).
How to Report:
-
Download and open the GLEDN app (available on iOS and Android).
-
Search for or select European Phragmites.
-
Enter the location and details under the appropriate section – either Plant or Water.
If you have trouble with the app, call the Town Hall at 920-823-8136
Your reports help us track and manage this invasive species more effectively.
Thank you for helping protect Jacksonport’s natural beauty!
