Frontier Updates April 2026

Frontier Fiber Project – April 2026 Status Update
Frontier has provided its April 2026 project status report.

While there have been no major construction changes this month, progress continues through ongoing coordination with Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), particularly regarding joint use (pole attachment) approvals

KEY UPDATES:

Overall Progress

  • Construction remains at approximately 65% completion of the original 960-location address list.
  • The final construction plan now includes 988 total locations, exceeding the original grant requirement by 28 locations.
  • A total of 628 locations have been completed (“passed”) and are currently open for service.
  • No additional locations were completed in the past 30 days due to pending permit approvals.

 

Permitting and Coordination

  • Remaining construction is fully dependent on WPS joint use (JU) permit approvals.
  • Frontier and WPS continue to meet bi-weekly to advance the approval process.
  • An external consultant has been engaged at WPS’s request to assist.
  • WPS’s Manager of Joint Use has agreed to a corporate escalation call with Frontier leadership to help accelerate approvals.

 

Subscriber Activity

  • The current subscription rate (“take rate”) is 49% among locations where fiber service is available.

 

Lakeside Park Wi-Fi Project

  • A work order has been issued and fiber construction is planned.
  • Frontier is preparing to install a router in the park building.
  • The project is moving forward with a goal of being operational by Memorial Day weekend.

 

Funding Summary

  • Wisconsin PSC funds received to date: $304,771.27
  • Town of Jacksonport funds received to date: $625,000.00

 

Outlook (Q2 2026: April–June)

  • Continued focus on securing WPS attachment approvals.
  • Once approvals are obtained, make-ready work can begin, allowing construction to resume and progress toward completion.
